HELMUT NEWTON

Helmut Newton was a fashion photographer that is widely recognised as one of the most collectable and prominent photographers ever to hold a camera. Newton’s style developed a very distinct taste for the erotic, long legs, and couture photography pushing the envelope of boldness for the time. His technical ability and sense of style gained him work as a fashion photographer for Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Playboy, and numerous other iconic publications.

“My women are always victorious,” Helmut Newton once surmised. Of the greatest and influential fashion photographers of the 20th century, the German-Australian photographer was among the most influential and likely the most imitated. From the 1950s through the 1990s, he perfected a frank, erotic vision that pushed the boundaries of fashion photography. Vogue’s U.S. editor-in-chief Anna Wintour once described his work as “synonymous with Vogue at its most glamorous and mythic.”
